Get the Perfect Wedding Gown Without Breaking the Bank

If you've scoured the bridal shops, flipped through issues of The Knot magazine, and even tried on your mother's gown but still haven't landed on one look you love, it could be time to consider a dress that's made to order. Known in the fashion industry as "bespoke," this type of dress is designed, crafted, and tailored to a bride's unique specifications.

Bespoke gowns are for any bride looking to personalize her wedding day style, the bride who doesn't see herself in the types of dresses typically found in bridal salons, and the bride who finds bits and pieces of dresses she loves and wants to combine into one dress.

There's an assumption that being on a budget means your only option is to buy a gown that's your typical "off-the-rack" dress. These dresses are thought to be inexpensive but typically require many alterations, which makes them much more costly than you’d expect. As it turns out, buying retail never ends with the price on the tag. So forget “off-the-rack,” and let’s get started creating your perfect wedding gown. I’m here to tell you that you can go bespoke without going broke!
If you have inspiration photos of gowns you love—that’s great! We can mix and match elements of those gowns until your heart’s content. We can tweak a dress that you admired on Pinterest or Instagram to make it perfect for you or just as easily start completely from scratch with your wedding gown and create a design that’s only limited by your imagination!

Call Us (724) 388-5543 or email us at PaleBlueThread@gmail.com. You can also connect with us using the contact form. Let us know what days/hours are good for you, and we will do our best to get back to you within 24 hours.

It’s always good to meet with Deb early enough to allow for your dress to be created and fitted to perfection. It is recommended for you to make your first appointment at least six months before your big day. Masterpieces take time!

Don’t worry! We will guide you and work with you to make this a fun and exciting process. We will find what styles, colors, and silhouettes you like. If you have any pictures or pins of dresses you love, bring them along! Many times brides love the top of one dress and the bottom of another one. Or maybe you have an idea for a dress that you just can’t find anywhere. Perhaps you already have a dress you want refashioned in some way; bring it along! Maybe you have a vintage gown from your mother or grandmother that you want incorporated into your dress. We will share ideas and choose fabrics. After taking your measurements for a custom fit, we will set up an appointment for you to approve the fabrics and receive an estimate of the cost. We will meet again for you to try on the dress at different points of construction to ensure a perfect fit for you. You won’t get a more personalized experience anywhere else.

To get to know you better, we’ll be asking the style/theme of your wedding, its location, and date, if you have any ideas of what you want your dress to look like (color, style, one piece or two, length, etc.), what your budget for a dress is, and if you have any pictures of dresses you want to share. It’s a good idea to try on different dresses to see what you look and feel best in before we meet.

Of course! This is a time of many decisions, and it’s nice to have mom or that special friend with you to share this experience. Guests are limited to two though. Any more and you’ll have too many conflicting opinions, which makes for an unpleasant afternoon or a drama-filled episode of a wedding dress show.

We will work within your budget to create the dress of your dreams. Included in the cost are all appointments to plan the design, choose the fabric, take your measurements, create the dress, have the fittings, complete any alterations, bustling, and pressing or steaming. We even include the zippered garment bag. Unlike bridal shops, we do not charge $300-900 extra to do alterations or have you pay extra money for a garment bag for your dress!

A 50% nonrefundable deposit is due when the dress design and the estimated cost is agreed upon, and the balance is to be paid on or before the completion date. Payments may be made via PayPal, Venmo and cash.

Yes! We custom make veils, lace or faux fur jackets, overskirts, capes, faux fur shrugs, and bridal sashes that complement your gown. We also can create other accessories you may want like garters, ring pillows, money bags, etc.

Due to the nature of custom-created gowns being unique to you, returns are not accepted once I begin making your dress. I am committed to making sure you have a wonderful experience and love your dress! If, for any reason, you are not satisfied with the finished dress, I will work with you to remedy the issue. I believe that with patience and clear communication on both sides, we can work together until you are 100% satisfied with your wedding gown.

The best location for a fitting is in my shop since I have the tools and fabric samples there. However, I can accommodate by traveling to you. We can discuss different possibilities over the phone.

I offer a free consultation with brides who want to explore the idea of wearing a one-of-a-kind custom-made dress. After the first meeting, you will know if a custom-made dress is right for you.

Wife/Mother

Deb designs for the woman who isn’t afraid to push boundaries and break a few rules (just like her), and her commitment is to translate your vision and style into a wedding gown design that is uniquely you.
When a young 10-year-old Deb expressed interest in sewing, she began learning the fundamentals of the craft from the local seamstress. She mastered working with patterns and started sewing her own sundresses. By high school, she was completely invested in fashion design, teaching herself patternmaking, draping, and construction. She was sewing her own clothing and competing in tailoring competitions.

Deb feels fortunate and thankful she is living out her passion for designing and creating original wedding gowns. When asked what message she’d like to share with brides, she said, “When you imagine seeing yourself in your wedding gown for the first time, you envision a magical goosebump moment that you’ll remember and covet forever.” She continued, “Those are the moments that I live for, whether that means heading to Manhattan on a whim to find that one perfect piece of lace or flying across the country for a last-minute fitting.” When Deb is not creating, she likes to spend her time with her two children and her hubby of 33 years, binge some HGTV, and wave her terrible towel at Steelers games.
